Episode 21: Kori Miller

This podcast episode is one of my favorites. I met Kori Miller when I was invited (hijacked) on her own podcast Back Porch Writer, and we had a lovely chat about . . . something or other.

But even then, I knew there was a depth to Kori that I just had to explore. This woman is amazing artist – ranging from writing to podcasting – and has a history that would have made any other person quite resentful.

This is a deep conversation, one where Kori truly opens up about her past – racism, philosophy, religion – these are but some of the issues we discuss that make Kori such a strong woman and a grounded person. I felt blown away by the whole thing, having learnt quite a few different perspectives and am still impressed now. I keep listening to the show, each time marveling at her talent with words and her energy. It was truly a pleasure chatting with her and I think all y’all will find this to be one of the best shows on this podcast to date.

Episode 20: Devils

In possibly the worst show ever, I show up with a sore throat and out of my freakin’ mind to give you your weekly dose of inspirational insanity.

This week I had no guest, no topic, no energy and no plan – still didn’t stop me from doing a show. So I rant on and on about something or other, energized by hatred for my neighbor and love for you guys who got me to rank #10,000 on Amazon last Sunday, then finally I decide to talk about one of the video game series that inspired me to write Legacy in the first place – Devil May Cry.

I compare the graphics, speak a little about the 13th generation of video games, talk some demonology and how I ripped off the game unashamedly and finally end the show by playing a few seconds from this little mix.

(No not the band – just click on the link dammit)

Epic DMC megamix or something. Click it and your life would be better.

This is the worst intro I’ve ever written, perfect for the worst show ever recorded. So unless you’ve managed to struggle out of your straight jacket, don’t listen to the show.

If you have . . . enjoy. You have been warned.

Episode 19: Collin Landis

I met today’s guest when I was stalking on of my favorite artists and have been friends with him ever since.

Collin is a short story author of horror, sci-fi, and general weird stuff that will make you shriek and salivate at the same time.

This show is one of my favorites, just for the sheer weirdness and energy of it. I have no idea why my mic levels were so low and I do apologize for that, but hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy some really wacky banter.

Be sure to visit Strangities.com and stalk Collin on Facebook and Twitter.

As for the preamble – I finally have a release date for Birthright: JUNE 12. Mark your calendars folks. I also did really well on my sales and I bitch a lot about some people who are clearly trying to copy what I am doing. My response was to go completely overdrive and rap an Eminem song (part of it don’t worry) and rant like my life depends on it.

Which it does.

Here’s the show folks, enjoy:

Episode 19: Pippa Jay

I met today’s guest eons ago when we were frequent subscribers to Sci-Fi Fantasy Saturdays (SFFSat). After much banter and critique we established that we should be friends even outside the blog itself and thus began systematically trolling each other’s social media presence as all good friends do.

This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to speak to Pippa Jay in person, and she showed up in a Jedi Robe. Needless to say I was happy and the interview went well.

This is a real treat you guys – a stay at home mom, turned multi-genre author whose writing in more than 5 genres. Seriously, I can’t even remember the catalog she gave me (and I just finished editing the fucking show 5 minutes ago.)

You SHOULD and MUST stalk Pippa on Facebook, Twitter, her blog and site.

Here’s a list of her accomplishments on amazon and goodreads.

And get some FREE STORIES on Smashwords by clicking these words.

Cheers and see you guys next week,

Episode 18: Sorin Suciu

Today I interview humor fantasy author Sorin Suciu, so prepare to have your mind blow and your funny-bone tickled.

This guy is one of the funniest authors out there. He’s a true artist and something of a reclusive genius, and I’ve had the pleasure of being introduced to his debut novel The Scriptlings, when my manager dumped the novel in my inbox and asked for my opinion.

Here’s what I told him: “Holy shit . . . hahahahaha . . . This is so cool . . . hahahaha . . . who is this guy? Hahahaha . . . I need to pee.”

I may be paraphrasing.

This interview went smooth and sailing, and I’ve been willing to talk to this guy since the inception of the show.

Here’s a rundown of what I blab about:

- Me and my problems, then I ask you to go buy The Scriptlings (which is SOOOOO worth your while)

- Then I thank you all for my amazon rating. Seriously, thank you. I have no words to properly describe my gratitude, but that doesn’t stop me from trying on the podcast.

- then the show starts and it’s pretty self explanatory.

PS. Sorin is Romanian, so I thought it would be funny to do the intro in my Dracula voice. So sorry, vampires and Eastern European peeps.

Best quote of the show - “Milk me Ryan, milk me.”

This is my job people. My fucking job.

Stalk Sorin on Facebook, and check out The Scriptlings on Amazon.

Garrett Robinson (sorry dude for massacring your name in the intro) has done some interviews and reviews of this book.

And you gotta check out THIS VIDEO.
