Episode 83: Star Wars 7 and some Ranting

Hello and Happy New Year.

We’re starting 2016 with style – by ranting. A LOT!!

I was originally gonna talk about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but then I read an few articles about how Obama was gonna crack down on gun control (about time) and that set me off on a rant. I won’t spoil the fun, but suffice it to say I make fun of the Oregon militia guy (cos seriously, who forgets food to this stuff?), and Donald Trump, and how God is rooting for the lizards.

Yep. This is what I think about all day.

Eventually we get to the topic, which is what we’re all here for. There are fifteen billion spoiler alerts so make sure to stop reading and listening if you haven’t watched the movie yet.

I liked this new Star Wars movie okay, but as I described it in the show, it was a good movie with very few bad parts. The new characters (and actors) were very good and I like how they resurrected the old original story and followed that structure (some would say too much, but hey, it was a safe bet for the writers — and we did like the movie so…)

My complaints were about the old actors. I don’t mean to be mean, and I understand they were there purely for fan service, but they are so past the whole Star Wars thing, it was almost cringe worthy. (Remember those bad parts I mentioned earlier – yeah, that’s every scene they were in)

All in all I think this movie is great but on it’s own doesn’t stand – which makes sense considering it’s one third of a saga.

See? 2016 brought Optimistic Ryan. Let’s see how long we can keep him for, before Cynical Ryan murders him in his sleep.
